CAM037LP
- "Birds of Appetite" by Salamander. All new recordings done at the end of 1998, this was Salamander's most consistent and definitive work to this point, refining their mix of eastern-influenced acid folk and giant Ash Ra Tempel-ish cosmic improvisations. Somehow it seemed necessary to do it on 220 gsm double vinyl, with a gatefold colour sleeve. [More] LP sold out with no repressing plans. A CD version is now available. [Order the CD] |

CAM040CD
- Black Sun Ensemble - s/t. Remastered reissue of the very first BSE private pressing initially on Pyknotic in 1985. Two tracks for which the masters were lost replaced by two totally unheard tracks from the same sessions. Awesome sound off original tapes (thanks Rich Hopkins at San Jacinto Records), and liner notes by the legendary Byron Coley. [More] This release is sold out at source with no repressing plans. |

CAM041CD
- Goblin Market - "Ghostland".
Pre-Raphaelite progressive folk-rock project by the Green Pajamas' Jeff Kelly and Laura Weller, with echoes of any number of landmarks of the genre, like Mellow Candle, Loudest Whisper, Caedmon, Stone Angel. Released in deluxe gatefold card sleeve with 32 page booklet. Jeff's acid folk stuff exists in perfect balance with Laura's gothic pop leanings, and the vocal work is extraordinary. CAM042S - Sand Pebbles - "Noah's Ark" 7". Melbourne's Sand Pebbles are virtually unique in the Australian musical landscape in playing historically-aware, 60s-influenced and distinctly West Coast flavoured psychedelic pop and rock, as well as classically cool Aussie stuff like Died Pretty and the Moodists, perhaps opening a door that we might try and lean on to get some interesting things happening here in Oz. This 33 1/3 RPM 7" contains sixteen minutes of tripped-out guitar pleasure, including the remorselessly catchy "Noah's Ark", the space jamming of "Hey, Let Me In", and the epic "Sundowner". - Dunlavy - "The Alison Effect".
The the fifth full-length CD from shadowy Houston psych project Dunlavy, home recording project of former Mike Gunner Scott Grimm. On "The Alison Effect", Dunlavy is basically a duo, with Scott now joined by another ex-Gunner John Cramer, who contributes guitar and vocals throughout. The combination of their guitar keyboard and vocal sounds, along with much more experience in composition and recording, make these recordings the logical extension of what The Mike Gunn were doing towards the end of their time together. - Ultraviolet Makes Me Sick - "Soundproof".
Debut CD from three-piece instrumental rock band based in Pavia, Italy. They express their cinematic rock ideal better than I ever could: "Davide Impellizzeri, the drummer, is our rhythmic figure. Alberto Anadone, is guitarist or bassist according to the songs, and draws out our structure and melodies. Gianmaria Aprile, is also guitarist and works with the sounds in a personal way. We play instrumental music for life - capturing harmonies in film-like tunes, inspired by images and sensations in order to recreate particular feelings we have inside." The results on "Soundproof" echo current favourites like Do Make Say Think and Mogwai, but with the vision of Bernardo Bertolucci. [More] (US$15.00 shipped anywhere) |

- Primordial Undermind - "Beings of Game P-U".
Relocation from the west coast of US to Austin in Texas allowed band mainstay Eric Arn to completely reinvent the Undermind sound as a conduit for the extended forces of improvisation. One key to the reinvention is the presence of Tom Carter, whose time with the Mike Gunn (then) and Charalambides (now), and understanding of the divinity of both acid rock and free guitar improvisation brings another sympathetic lobe to the Group Mind. CAM047CD
- Dipsomaniacs - "Stethoscopic Notion".
After the almost "concept album" feel of predecessor "Braid of Knees" this latest album returns to the pure song focus of the earlier "Reverb No Hollowness" album. This means that it can be firmly placed on a continuum of modern but 60s-influenced paisley pop, which started with bands like The Rain Parade and Dream Syndicate and continued on to bands like Green Pajamas, Olivia Tremor Control and The Photon Band.
