Drawing on diverse influences such as 60s folk legends Shirley Collins, Martin Carthy and Anne Briggs on the one hand and contemporary artists such as The Violent Femmes, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Coil and the Swans on the other, Sharron Kraus creates timeless original folk music characterized by soil-rich vocals, fine acoustic guitar and banjo picking, and masterful visionary word craft.

Her songs are populated by a carnival array of fatally charismatic characters and tell tales of enslavement, perversion, incest, obsession, death and various supernatural phenomena. Which has always been the palette of folk music, we suppose. Songs like "The Peacock's Wing", "The River's Daughter" and "Godstow" tap into this tradition like settlers boring wells to find water.

She is ably assisted by collaborators Amy Clay and Tracy Farbstein on fiddle, Ron Guensche on bass, mandolin and 5 string banjo, Dean Welch on guitar, Paul Conte on percussion and Marty Dowers on bass clarinet.
