Wales-based Dafydd Roberts and partner Ruth have been creating four-track magic under the names Alphane Moon and Our glassie Azoth since 1994, and this is the second Camera Obscura release of their work. Their two projects are sometimes difficult to separate, but in the most reductionist terms, Alphane Moon conjure fractally-detailed and rural psychedelia with occasional vocals, and Our glassie Azoth emit howlingly chaotic fields of abstract drone and noise.

"The Echoing Grove" was recorded during 1994 at Ciliau Aeron, Erwlon and Dolaugwyddion-uchaf in Wales, and was originally released in 1996 on various tape labels in a total quantity not amounting to more than 100. Plans to release the tape as a CD foundered at the time, although an EP comprising several tracks from it was put out in 1996 by US label Spiffing Records. We are pleased to be able to do it on CD for the first time.

Tracks vary from the doppler-pan mindswirls of Circle of Four and To Almadine which recall Flying Saucer Attack's Dave Pearce at his most echo and delay soaked, through the quite noisy, almost Our glassie Azoth-ish Lunadial, to the majestic 12 minute manifesto Reap a Field of Light, which transitions from a delicate folk ballad to an unstoppable onslaught of kinetic guitar rhythms with preternatural seamlessness.
