Galbraith works his muse like an endlessly patient prospector liberating
tiny nuggets of gold from his 4-track home studio. His most recent new
releases were in way back in 1995, the brilliant Talisman
LP on his own Next Best Way label, and the Tae
Keening 7” recorded with kiwi chanteuse Dermarnia Lloyd and released
on Roofbolt. So we at Camera Obscura are honored as well as pretty damn
excited to be chosen to release some new material while Alastair puts the
finishing touches on his next LP, Way
Back Out due on his own Next Best Way label later in the year. Two
tracks on the Rivulets 7” are previews of tracks from Way Back Out.
Rivulets and This Hard contain all the alien vocal beauty and multi-instrumental
wizardry familiar from the Morse
and Talisman albums, up there
with his best song work. The other two tracks are instrumentals exclusive
to this release and showcase the more experimental direction that Alastair
has been travelling in the past few years, with plenty of weird
electronics, backwards guitars, bagpipe chanters and trademark violin

| Reviews
“Remembered as part, related as whole, experience becomes expression becomes sound becomes emotion; Galbraith’s spiritual morse code mantra is haiku-perfect soul invocation and I love this music and that is all I know right now”. - Nick Cain on “Talisman” from Opprobrium #1 “..could not be a more pure, true and beautiful ‘one man’ effort. Take Talisman into your home, listen to it in your bedroom (especially nice with wood floors and late-afternoon sunlight), close your eyes...the music will do the rest” - Leslie Gaffney from Popwatch #7 |
