Lifesmyth is the vision of Scott Smith, born in 1971 in Syracuse, New York State. Although a life-long lover of music, Scott only began pursuing it as a serious endeavour around age 17. But he remembers playing his great grandmother's old upright piano in his pre-teen years, and being fascinated by it. He cites The Beatles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Zappa, King Crimson, Nirvana, Tori Amos and Aimee Mann as musical influences but his music doesn't sound like any of them, instead being his own take on vintage acid cum progressive folk. His desire is to make music that takes the listener beyond the five senses - for music that appeals to the "third ear". He has released a series of cassette and CD-Rs on the underground music-trading network, and these releases are now progressively being re-mastered for potential official release. Music for the Third Ear is the first fruit of this project.
